What services do we provide?

  • Outpatient clinical service for children with Asthma, Allergies, and/or other Allergic diseases
  • Treatment & education for children with asthma
  • Assessment of children with potential allergic reactions
  • Allergy testing and education
  • Access to Pediatric Pulmonary Function & Exercise Stress Testing through our Medical Diagnostic Unit (MDU)

  • Oral Food Challenges. If your child is approved for an Oral Food Challenge by one of our Physicians, please review our Consent Form and our document on How to Prepare for an Oral Food Challenge prior to coming to clinic.   • Please note that referrals for Drug/Medication and Venom allergies should be directed to St. Joseph's Adverse Reactions Clinic

Referral process 

  • The referral process is made through a direct referral from a pediatrician or family doctor to a specialist
  • Referrals can be faxed directly to clinic
  • Referral Forms can be accessed here:  PDFMS Word  (Right-Click and select 'Save Target As')

Clinic hours

The clinic hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (closed on holidays)

  •  8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.  

We strive to provide comprehensive assessments to our patients. As a teaching hospital, we also have a large team consisting of medical students, residents, and fellows. Please allow approximately 1-2 hours for your appointment

Urgent referrals 

 

The clinics are not for emergencies. If your child needs to be seen urgently, please contact your family doctor or go to your local emergency department. 

Changing your appointment 

 

To help keep our waitlists shorter, please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your child's appointment or cancel the appointment. Please note that a "No Show" to our clinic will result in the child being re-booked for the next available appointment. Two "No Shows" may require a new referral.

Important

If your child has a communicable disease such as Chicken Pox or has been in contact with someone with Chicken Pox, please call the clinic before you come to the hospital. 

What should you bring to the clinic? 

  • Your child's health card - the Ministry of Health requires us to validate your health card
  • Any x-rays or letters from your doctor
  • Any notes or questions that you may have  
  • List of medications as well as aerochambers and puffers
