Many special features were included in the building to meet the special needs of everyone.
Some of the great features are:

  • Outdoor terraces on all levels
  • A wheeling track, gyms, classrooms and wide corridors
  • Child and youth themed art

Overall Design

  • Design and planning principles that were used are based on up-to-date standards and proof from research, as well as creating spaces, views and public areas with natural sunlight. The look, texture and colour creates an inviting and welcoming space.

  • Our goal was to create a patient and family friendly space that welcomes and inspires all to be their best self.

  • Hallways are used as exercise and therapy areas.

  • The front hallway is open and welcoming, including a café, seating area, Family Resource Centre and Conference Centre.

Outside

  • Outdoor areas, one on each level of the building, specifically designed for the program.

  • 180m outdoor wheeling track and outdoor therapeutic playground.

  • All areas are wheelchair accessible.

  • Therapeutic gym – a large gymnasium features an area to work with children and youth in an active and fun way, including those with physical with disabilities and mobility issues. The gym includes a basketball court, climbing wall and sports area.
