Before You Call
For advice or request for transport call anytime if you're at all concerned about your baby's condition. Our line is always available at 905 521 2600. Neonatal teams are not accessed via Criticall
Call sooner than later as it takes time for the team to rally and arrive to help you. We endeavor to rally within 20 minutes if the team is not already on another call.

Before The Team Arrives
Be sure to update the patient's family as to the potential for transport.
Once the need for transport is established, compile the pertinent information.
Photocopy the documentation required (see Documentation we require)
We will request to view any x-rays done and will need a copy of them to take with us.
If the placenta is still available we need to take it with us.
Make sure your baby has at least one correct name band on.
Encourage parents to take a picture of their baby if they have a camera.
Parents are encouraged to stay with their baby if they wish and condition allows. Transport nurses will meet with parents regularly to update them on their baby's condition , provide transport information and obtain consent and contact information.
Encourage parents to take all of the infant's belongings and breast milk home with them.
